Books and comics and wizards! Librarians are everywhere!

So had a great load of fun these past few days, especially for a future libraian. Got to go to Platform 9 3/4, The British Library, and London Comic Con 2014.

PLATFORM 9 3/4

How much needs to be said on the significane of this location to a book lover? It was a great experience and was fufilling to childhood dreams.

I had a great time and had to give Hufflepuff some love because it was all alone.
I found the platform
rather easily, thankyouverymuch.

BRITISH LIBRARY

This place was beautiful and yet very modern, the perfect place for a book lover and librarian. Got to wander around and see items such as the Magna Carta and Britain's oldest piece of paperwork and then decided to visit the new exhibit, Comics Unmasked: Art and Anarchy in the UK. This exhibition featured works by Nil Gaiman, Alan Moore, Brian and Mary Talbot and many many more. It delved into sensitive topics such as race, sexuality, violence and more. This was especially illuminating to me as a librarian and as a comic book reader. It also gave me some great suggestions for future reading.

Also: Book Benches and The Color Fairy Collection of fairytales, which I am super excited about the reprinting.

LONDON COMIC CON 2014

This was a great convention, although it was much larger than any con that I've been to so far. Lots of booths and lots of things to look at and learn. Sat in on a few programs, including the YALC: The UK's First YA Lit Con with over fifty authors in attendance. Also got to sit in a workshop about the 'art of blogging' where bloggers Holly Bourne, Natasha Ngan, Sanne Vliegenthart and Kat Mckenna gave out advice and blogging tips. Cool Stuff.

Ended the day with a screening of Game of Thrones. They picked a great episode and had some great chrachters come out for the commentary (also featuring a piñata of Joffery, which thankfully  did get to be bashed in by a lucky audience member)
