And wait.
The time keeps pushing itself backward on the display that lets you know how long until the next bus arrives (why doesn't boston have one?) We start at 20 get down to 12 minutes, it goes back up to 24, down to 17, up to 26...we must have been waiting half an hour. But we finally get on the double decker bus and get to ride on the top floor!
ALTERNATIVE WHAT?
We get to Hampstead Heath and go into the station and ask a gentleman about the games. He tells us that they are in Glasgow (the official ones are) and has no idea about the Alternative ones. He then tells us that the park is behind us. We wander the park a while, take some pictures, play with a dog and then...we see them. We head over and wang out some wellies (rubber rainboots my friends) and walk around the park watching kids play tug of war sponsored by the Tug of War Association (it's a thing).
We also grab some jerk chicken and ice cream and play some Jukskei, which is similar enough to horseshoes, although the point is to use a stick to knock over another one buried in sand rather than get a ring.
I managed to knock over my stick! On the first try!!!
Hampstead was beautiful and I'm glad that we were encouraged to go. Thanks Dr. Paul!!!
